One of Vancouver’s favourite musical traditions: A Phonix Christmas
December 9, 2009 - (Vancouver, BC) – The countdown is on to one of Vancouver’s favourite musical traditions: A PHOENIX CHRISTMAS, on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 8:00PM.

Under the direction of Dr. Ramona Luengen, Vancouver’s Phoenix Chamber Choir has become the most successful choir in the history of the CBC Choral Competition, and was the only North American adult-choir finalist in the 2007 prestigious International Let the Peoples Sing Competition. Last year Phoenix celebrated 25 years with 3 world premières of specially commissioned works and the Canadian première of Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles.

A Phoenix Christmas offers an escape far removed from the hustle and bustle of the season, a magical, joy-filled evening of traditional carols and heartwarming music, both new and old, presented in the reflective ambiance that makes this a very special concert indeed. Come be moved by the strikingly original and heartrending portraits of the three kings by Jonathan Dove, the eloquent search for peace in I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Canadian composer Mark Sirett, and the sumptuous beauty of Morten Lauridsen’s O magnum mysterium. Following a long and rewarding tradition of collaboration, the choir will once again be joined by Vancouver’s gifted organist Roy Campbell.
Last year’s concert sold out. Order your tickets early!
