LOS ANGELES, CA ’Äî December 21, 2009
Alfred Music Publishing, the world leader in educational music publishing since 1922, is proud to continue its 88-year legacy as a family-owned and operated organization with the appointment of Ron Manus as the company’Äôs Chief Executive Officer.
Ron Manus has assumed the responsibility of CEO from his brother Steve, who has moved to Spain with his wife Sylvie and 5-year-old daughter, Melissandra. "Even though Steve's life journey has led him on this new adventure, he will continue to play an important role on special projects. And while I am very happy for my brother, I will truly miss his presence here in our Van Nuys offices. He has been a great leader and has left a legacy of which I look forward to following,’Äù said Ron.
Poised and ready to take on this thrilling new phase in his career, Ron commented, ’ÄúWhen Steve first started talking with me about retiring, I couldn’Äôt imagine Alfred without him. But over the last 2 years, as I developed my vision for Alfred’Äôs future, I realized taking on this new role was a perfect fit for me: I not only can do it, I was born to do it! Having been a long-time musician and a lifelong employee at Alfred, I am extremely excited to take the company into exciting new territory.’Äù
’ÄúAlfred is the industry leader in instructional methods for every instrument, and we continue to lead with exciting cutting-edge technologies. Some of our latest innovations include fully customizable instructional products, digital downloads, mobile applications, and environmentally friendly print solutions,’Äù Ron added. ’ÄúAnd as part of the recapitalization of Alfred, we have established a minority interest Employee Stock Ownership Plan for our employees, which essentially makes everyone working with me at Alfred, my new business partner! This fits the personality and independent spirit of Alfred and reflects our open and progressive thinking as it relates to employee participation in the growth of our business.’Äù
’ÄúFor over 20 years with my brother Steve and 50 years with my folks Morty & Iris, we have built an awesome company that cares about our dealers and musicians everywhere. And as a Manus, I plan to continue Alfred’Äôs mission to help the world experience the joy of making music,’Äù Ron exclaimed. ’ÄúI feel like I am living the dream; I know that this is my passion, this is my life, and this is my dream come true.’Äù
