COC Fidelio Changes Cast

FIDELIO CAST CHANGE
The Canadian Opera Company announces a cast change in the current production of Beethovens Fidelio. American tenor Jon Villars, who was scheduled to perform the role of Florestan, has
Richard Margison. Mr. Ketilsson will sing the role for the first five performances, January 24, 27, 30, February 4, and 7, and Mr. Margison will sing the remaining five performances, February 12, 15, 18, 21, and 24, 2009 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
Jon Ketilsson, began his professional career with the Prague State Opera as Alfredo. He has since appeared as Florestan in Gteborg and Marseille, and has sung with many European opera houses including Opra national du Rhin, Opra de Lausanne, Paris Opera, and the Royal Opera Copenhagen. He has worked with such esteemed conductors as Antonio Pappano, Jeffrey Tate, Lorin Maazel, Sylvain Cambreling, Zubin Mehta, Jess Lpez-Cobos, Bertrand de Billy and Kent Nagano.
The COC is happy to welcome back one of the worlds most acclaimed tenors, Richard Margison who makes his Four Seasons Centre stage debut. Mr. Margison last appeared as Calaf in the COCs production of Turnadot in 2004. Mr. Margison, who received the Order of Canada in 2001, has performed in the worlds leading opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the San Francisco Opera, the Thtre Royale de la Monnaie in Brussels, Covent Garden, the Sydney Opera and the Netherlands Opera.
Tickets for Fidelio are available online at www.coc.ca, by calling 416-363-8231, or in person at the Four Seasons Centre Box Office (145 Queen St. W., Toronto). Tickets range from $60 to $290. Special young peoples tickets for all performances throughout the season are priced from $30 to $98. These ticket prices apply to those who are 15 years of age or under, accompanied by and sitting next to an adult.
