Three Canadians Among Finalists at the 2000 Queen Elisabeth Competition

Three Canadians are among the twelve finalists of the The 2000 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Voice. The three Canadians are Karen Wierzba (Toronto), Marie-Nicole Lemieux (Montreal) and Robert Pomakov (Toronto). A fourth finalist also has a Canadian connection: Korean counter-tenor David Dong Qyu Lee received training at the Vancouver Academy of Canada. Here is the complete list of contestants according to their order of appearance in the finals:

Sunhae Im Korea 24 soprano
David Dong Qyu Lee Korea 22 counter-tenor

Margriet Van Reisen Netherlands 28 alto
Marie-Nicole Lemieux Canada 24 alto
Pierre-Yves Pruvot France 29 baritone
Lubana Al Quntar Syria 27 soprano
Olga Pasichnyk Ukrain 32 soprano

The finals will be held in Brussels on May 24, 25 and 26.
