Spectacle prsent deux soirs seulement, les vendredi 29 et samedi 30 mai 2009, 21h, au MAI - 10 $ par personne

Pour fter ses 10 ans daudace artistique, le MAI (Montral, arts interculturels) se paie un trip dextravagance et de dlire en prsentant les 29 et 30 mai une dition spciale dECLECTIK, son vnement annuel multidisciplinaire ddi la cration artistique. Cette anne, ce grand rassemblement dartistes se droule sous le thme inspirant de Folies et donne carte blanche une trentaine dartistes vidastes, danseurs, musiciens, potes, DJs qui creront 10 courtes uvres de forme libre, hybrides, draisonnables, absurdes, alines, improvises, drles ou carrment follesĶ Le tout anim par Queen Ka, la reine de la soire !
Eclectik : le spectacle
Fou damour, fou lier, fou furieux ou fou de joie, il y a toutes sortes de manires de vivre la folie. Agitation individuelle ou frnsie collective, nous la croisons dans les situations absurdes de nos vies quotidiennes, dans la violence et le chaos du monde moderne. Nous la rencontrons aussi en nous-mmes, dans nos esprances et nos peurs irrationnelles. Afin de favoriser les rencontres et lexprimentation artistiques interdisciplinaires, le MAI a invit des artistes de diffrentes disciplines sinspirer des Folies pour crer des pices leur faon en duo ou en groupe. Eclectik : ateliers tout public (10 ans et plus)
La folie de lombre, le samedi 30 mai 11h :
Clea Minaker, marionnettiste et artiste en thtre visuel, animera un atelier de thtre dombres o les participants pourront exprimenter les multiples faons dutiliser les ombres pour raconter toutes sortes dhistoires et de folies.
La danse, YouTube et lespace public, le samedi 30 mai 14h:
Dans le cadre de son projet Global Dancing, lartiste Sarah Febbraro invite les gens apprendre une chorgraphie simple sur YouTube. Elle enseignera cette danse aux participants de latelier. 10 ans dj
Vritable promoteur des pratiques artistiques interculturelles et contemporaines, le MAI sest distingu depuis 10 ans sur la scne montralaise et canadienne et a su rejoindre une grande diversit de publics. Lorganisme a offert aux artistes de toutes les disciplines et de tous les horizons un soutien la cration et du mentorat, ainsi quun espace de rencontre et de diffusion de leurs uvres. Au fil des ans, ce lieu en constante bullition a accueilli plus de 1200 artistes, prsent plus de 180 spectacles diffrents et 50 expositions. La contribution du MAI sur la scne artistique est inestimable. Avec ECLECTIK, les artistes lui rendent un vibrant hommage pour son 10ime anniversaire.

A wild show in celebration of the MAIs 10th anniversary

To celebrate its 10 years of audacious artistic programming, the MAI (Montral, arts interculturels) is going on a wild and extravagant ride with a special edition of ECLECTIK an annual multidisciplinary event dedicated to artistic creation on May 29 and 30. This year, Eclectik is dedicated to the theme of Folies, giving carte blanche to thirty artists video artists, dancers, musicians, poets, and DJs who will create 10 short free-form, hybrid worksĶ foolish, absurd, alienated, improvised, comic, or just plain mad! The evening will be hosted by the queen of the night, Queen Ka!
Eclectik: the show
Madly in love, mad as a hatter, stark-raving mad, mad with joy there are many ways to live madness. Whether it is through individual agitation or collective hysteria, we encounter madness in the absurd moments of our daily lives, and in the violence and chaos of the modern world. But we also find it in ourselves, in our hopes and irrational fears. To encourage experimentation and new alliances in interdisciplinary art, the MAI has invited artists from various disciplines to represent madness in their own way, either as duos or as larger ensembles. Eclectik: Workshops for Everyone (ages 10 and up)
The Folly of Shadow, Saturday, May 30 at 11 am:
Clea Minaker, a puppeteer and visual theatre artist, will give a shadow theatre workshop. Participants will experiment with the art of shadow theatre as a way to tell wild and crazy stories of all kinds.
Dance, YouTube, and Public Space, Saturday, May 30 at 2 pm:
Within the framework of her project Global Dancing, artist Sarah Febbraro invites the public to learn a simple choreography via YouTube. For the workshop, she will teach participants the dance routine. This group performance will be presented in front of the MAI, and then recorded and uploaded to YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJVfY1WY-hA

10 years already
As a bona fide promoter of contemporary intercultural artistic practices for the past 10 years, the MAI has carved a place both on the local and national art scene while reaching out to diverse audiences. In addition, the MAI has provided creative support and mentorship as well as a meeting and exhibition space to artists of all disciplines and backgrounds. Throughout the years, this vibrant space has welcomed more than 1200 artists, and presented over 180 different productions as well as over 50 exhibitions. The MAIs contribution to the performing and visual arts milieu is invaluable. With ECLECTIK, artists pay it a brilliant tribute for its 10th anniversary.
