Would you like to get your children into classical music? Across the country, orchestras and ensembles are concocting concert programs made for younger audiences.

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal is a must-see in its new hall. The OSM and its leader still have the desire to create unique musical marriages. With the concert Les Trois Accords (September 30 and October 1), composer Simon Leclerc will seduce audiences of all ages. There will also be a series designed for children, Children’s Corner, that will be a wonderful experience for you and your children or grandchildren. The Metropolitan Orchestra presents Youth Spirit - The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Other Wizardry (October 30), an ideal opportunity to sample Dompierre, Gluck, and Dukas. On November 12, the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval presents At the Movies with Antoine! This concert, featuring the new concertmaster and solo violinist Antoine Bareil, offers classical music including scores from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

For the people from the Quebec region, the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec presents Vikings en symphonie (2 November), a show denouncing bullying and emphasizing the importance of self-confidence. In addition, one hour before the show, it will be possible to try out the instruments with the musicians.

In the West, the Calgary Symphony Orchestra presents Tour de Force. On the program: Carnival of the Animals and Turangalîla (November 29). The Carnival is always a hit with young audiences. In addition, Turangalîla-Symphonie will be presented with a visual component in its world premiere. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra offers the music of the Beatles as a part of their Classical Mystery Tour (October 8). This concert combines rock and Symphonic music with the greatest hits of the legendary group.

Finally, throughout the year, Jeunesses Musicales du Canadapresents concerts and workshops in several provinces all year long. Whether it’s Esquisses Modernes with the Fandango Guitar Quartet, a show featuring music from Brahms to the tangos, or Coup de coeur pour le hautbois, a concert featuring multiple double reed instruments, rest assured you will not be disappointed.
Enjoy the show!
