Anne Akiko Meyers Appearing with Il Divo in Toronto December 11th

New York, NY ’Äì The trail-blazing violinist Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world's premiere concert artists, performing regularly in recital and with leading orchestras globally. On December 11th, she joins Il Divo, one of the world’Äôs most popular musical groups as they appear in a series of intimate holiday concerts with 37-piece orchestra entitled Celebrate Christmas with Il Divo. The limited-run international tour launches in London on December 7th and lands in Toronto on the 11th. Emmy & Tony-winning soprano Kristin Chenoweth will also join Il Divo and Meyers on selected stops along the tour.

For the shows, Il Divo will perform songs in three languages from the group’Äôs double platinum album The Christmas Collection and their recent album The Promise including stunning renditions of Silent Night, White Christmas and O Holy Night as well as inspirational favorites such as Amazing Grace and Ave Maria.

On each stop on the Il Divo tour, Anne Akiko Meyers will join the group for a performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and Panis Angelicus, the moving sacred meditation by Cˆ©sar Franck. She will also perform Smile ’Äì from her hit album of the same name released in spring 2009 ’Äì along with the fiendishly virtuosic ’ÄúWinter’Äù section from Vivaldi’Äôs Four Seasons and Jeff Tyzik’Äôs arrangement of Autumn in New York by Vernon Duke. Both of these selections will also be featured on her next recording, The Seasons’ĶDreams ’Äì to be released on Koch in spring of 2010.

Il Divo, comprised of American tenor David Miller, popular French singer Sebastian Izambard, Swiss tenor Urs Buhler, and Spanish baritone Carlos Marin were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004, following an extensive worldwide audition process. The virtuoso blending of operatic technique with romantic and popular song took the world by storm, with sales of over 22 million.
